Vorige week was er op canvis/panorama een reportage over vrouwen in Afghanistan die -kort gezegd- geen school kunnen volgen omdat de taliban wil dat de bevolking de edele taak op zich neemt om hun bijbelteksten vanbuiten te leren. Zonder te leren lezen, vanzelfsprekend.
Geloof an sich is al walgelijk maar wat in die reportage naar boven komt daar keert zelfs een westvlaamse belegen beerput groen van!
Ondertussen zijn er bij ons ook zware problemen: in welke taal zullen we dit jaar eens naar school gaan, en zijn we nu eigenlijk tweetalig, Vlaming of Belg, racistisch of gewoon onverdraagzaam, ...
Ja het is belangerijk dat we eruit geraken met een goed compromis, maar miljaar, steek die politiekers tijdens de onderhandelingen misschien eens tussen de taliban in de afghaanse bergen: onze problemen zullen nog nooit zo pietluttig geweest zijn.
En terwijl ze daar toch zijn, neem het hele vlaamse mediacircus mee, dan kunnen wij misschien onze schade op film-gebied wat goedmaken!

Sidenote: Zwart/wit denken is misschien niet eerlijk, maar het maakt de oplossingen toch zo heerlijk eenvoudig. Vote Burnie!

The internet just got a good deal less jolly, it's like there's only one colour of m&m's left in the bag.

This week Yukito Kishiro announced on his blog that he had a dispute with his editors/publisher, that started with having to redraw a few pages for strong language, and escalated in the direction of getting orders to use a mac instead of a pc, and having to explain a lot of things about the manga (really stupid ones, ie: "Why does Ping look younger then M'badi?"), and then apparently having to redraw a lot of pages ... All of these under the flag of "protecting their business".

The result is that Yukito went on a strike.
That's right. Yukito stopped drawing, possibly permanent. A very sad day for manga-fans indeed.

On another side of the internet, sites that keep scanslations up have received take-down notices, and onemanga.com -where I read the latest scanslated manga fresh from Japan- announced it will stop hosting manga. It's not that they don't have the right to do that, it's that there's no alternative. Publishing firms around the world all follow their own policies, and good series stop being published, change format, or are simply impossible to get by (not to mention the slow release speed).
Until now I also bought all the series I read. Let's just say a lot of the motivation has gone.

Iemand zei 'maar dat is helemaal niet sportief' toen ik met de wagen naar de andere kant van Brugge was gereden... nog geen 10 km ver! Kortom er moest duidelijk iets met mij mis zijn.

Tegen de tijd dat ik op pensioen ga hoop ik dat deze betaalbaar zijn...
"Laat jij robby de robot uit, schat?'"

Ik ben niet zeker als hij zegt "oishii soo" (=ik heb horen zeggen dat dit lekker is) of "oishisoo" (=dat ziet er lekker uit), maar waarschijnlijk dat tweede...
Toch leuk om te zien dat de robots langzaam aan beter worden.
